The Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) is live with a powerful and modern Mandated Reporter Portal. Tens of thousands of healthcare professionals, teachers, and other required reporters can now quickly and securely submit suspected child abuse and neglect information online through an easy to use website.

The portal, implemented in less than four months with support from RedMane, will decrease wait times on Virginia’s toll-free hotline and allows mandated reporters to immediately submit information.

“VDSS is excited about the launch of the Mandated Reporter Portal, which offers a user-friendly, streamlined option for reporting child abuse and neglect,” said Kristen Zagar, Director, Division of Family Services, Virginia Department of Social Services. “Through offering this reporting option, our community partners can experience greater convenience in reporting through an online avenue that is available and agile when and where needed.”

The ability to rapidly and efficiently report suspected abuse and neglect is the critical first step that enables VDSS to prioritize and address safety, permanency, and well-being of children. The portal, which includes helpful guidance and information for reporters, is part of VDSS’ overall effort to protect children and strengthen families.

The portal implementation comes on the heels of VDSS implementing an award-winning mobile child welfare solution for several thousand caseworkers that allows them to better help children and families, while spending less time on paperwork and record keeping.
